PharmaHorse Psyllium seeds for horses
Psyllium seeds (‘floor seed’) are small, oval seeds derived from the plant Plantago Ovata. This crop is native to India and surrounding areas. It is a rich source of natural fibre and a versatile addition to a horse's diet. The seeds are known for their unique ability to absorb moisture and form a gel-like substance.
Both the psyllium seeds and psyllium husk contain mucilage, which is beneficial for intestinal function and improved intestinal passage.* Psyllium is often used in horses to support intestinal health, including to help remove sand from the gastrointestinal tract. Also known as a sand cure. The fibre is naturally gluten-free and acts as a prebiotic, contributing to a well-functioning gut flora and indirectly to maintaining a strong immune system.
